This course is a step-by-step method that is designed for young students to master the basics of reading in French. It is self-paced and full of activities to keep the student focused and engaged at all times.
I offer your child the opportunity to learn French reading online, at their pace, in a fun and engaging way. Your child will learn to decode and break up words in syllables, all while acquiring the French blended sounds through numerous activities.
The French Reading Essentials video course is broken up into two parts.
In the first part we will start with learning each vowel sound and how to put them with consonants to create new sounds. We will then be looking at how to break up words into syllables in order to decode.
In the second part we will dive into learning the blended sounds in French. The foundation for learning to read in French (especially for non-native speakers).
Each lesson will focus on a blended sound or group of sounds. We will start with the most common and simple blended sounds and then move into the more complex sounds. We will be consistently going back and reviewing, as the lessons build upon each other.
This online French course is designed and organized in a way for the children to become familiar with the activities and routines of the lessons. The lessons all build upon the other and are all taught in a consistent format for the child to follow on their own.

Who should take this course?
This course is ideal for a beginner French reader or a child that is struggling in French reading, as it covers all the basics and foundation for learning to read in French. It is important that the child taking the course understands the French language already as all directives and lessons are taught in French. This is perfect for a French speaking homeschooler, or a child attending French immersion or Francophone school.
How does the course work?
The course is a series of video lessons that build upon the other to teach step-by-step how to read. Decoding strategies are taught while introducing and practicing one sound at a time. There is always a review before moving onto the next sound. Throughout the lessons there are numerous activities and worksheets for the student to engage in.
What materials are needed for the course?
A printable workbook is provided with the course. The students will also be required to have coloured cardboard paper, scissors, highlighters, a small whiteboard and other regular school supplies.
How long do I have access to the videos?
